Like the analogy used by Moana Jackson - Just as visitors are expected to observe the kawa (protocol) or rules of a marae when they arrive as manuhiri (guests), individuals stepping through the gates of Putāruru Primary School are entering our marae (school) and are likewise expected to adhere to our Ngā Uara (values).
These values serve as the cornerstone of the atmosphere and interactions within our school. They encompass kindness, honesty, respect, and resilience in all aspects of our endeavours, whether it be in our interactions with others, our approach to learning, or our response to challenges.
These values not only define who we are as individuals but also collectively as a school community, guiding us in our daily actions

Kia ora and welcome to Putåruru Primary School!
Why Putaruru Primary School?
Embark on an educational adventure like no other at Putāruru Primary School! Under the watchful guidance of the esteemed Raukawa iwi, our school is more than just a place of learning—it's a cultural hub where traditions come alive and history intertwines with every lesson.
At Putāruru Primary, we're not just educators; we embrace and eagerly learn about the unique cultural identities of all individuals who walk through our school gates. Whether your child comes from near or far, they'll find a warm welcome and a supportive environment that encourages them to share their heritage and learn from others.
While we celebrate cultural diversity, we also recognise the importance of foundational skills in literacy and mathematics. Ensuring a robust curriculum in these areas is paramount to your child's educational journey. Our dedicated teachers provide personalised support to ensure smooth transitions through the year levels and onto the local college and beyond.
Imagine your child exploring the lush surroundings of Putāruru, delving into the rich stories and traditions of the Raukawa people, and forging deep connections to the land they call home. Our commitment to honouring Raukawa wisdom infuses every aspect of our curriculum, ensuring that cultural diversity is not just embraced but celebrated.
Ngā mihi
