PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE

The Public Health Nurse visits schools in our area regularly. She networks with social and health agencies in the school community, working with individual children who have health problems and at times making referrals to other agencies. E.g. Child development centre, Health camp, assessment of New Entrants, checking on immunisation, and working with teachers to assist with school health programmes.

There is a booklet on Health Information at the office if you require one.

VISION & HEARING TESTS

All children have their hearing and distance vision tested in their first year at school. You will only be contacted if your child does not pass the test.

HEADLICE

Infestation of headlice is an ongoing problem for all schools in New Zealand. We ask that parents contact the school if their child has headlice, and confirm that the child has been treated for it. We must be diligent in this if we are to eradicate it. The school will contact parents if they suspect their child has headlice, or if there is an outbreak in the child’s class.

SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES

These are usually held every Wednesday afternoon at 2.20 pm in the Hall. Parents are always welcome.

SCHOOL FEES

The Board of Trustees has decided not to charge school fees this year.
