CIVIL DEFENCE & EMERGENCY PROCEDURE
Children are taught about fire and earthquake safety procedures and have regular drills. In the event of an emergency the staff’s primary concern is the safety of the children. Emergency procedures are found in every area of the school. The Policy on Civil Emergency is sent home to parents at the beginning of each year. Should an emergency occur the school will hold the children until either it is safe to release them, or parents come to collect them.
BICYCLES
Our policy states that children are not to ride to school until they are 10 years old. All children must wear a safety-approved helmet, and permission must be given by parents (slips available at the office) before your child rides to school.
BUSES
Rural buses will run in conjunction with the College. If you live outside the town zone please enquire at the office and you will be told which bus your child will use. The bus route within town has four pick up / drop off stops. Your child is welcome to use this facility. The bus route may be altered from time to time to accommodate the numbers of children at each stop. If your child misbehaves on the bus, the school (and bus company) have the right to suspend your child from using the bus. Children must sit quietly on the bus and show the usual courtesy towards others that is expected at all times, regardless of where they are.
ROAD SAFETY PATROL
Each year senior children are trained to be Traffic Wardens. They are on duty at 8.30 A.M. until 8.50 A.M. and at 2.55 P.M. until 3.10 P.M. All children must cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. We ask that parents do the same so as to set the example for their children, and ask parents to expect their children not to run across the road towards them or the car, so that their safety is ensured. Parents are requested NOT to park in the no parking zones marked outside the school during pick up and drop off times. Please leave the Bus Lane Drop Off/Pick Up Zone free at all times. |
