Putāruru Kāhui Ako Strategic Plan

Putāruru Kāhui Ako Team

Meet Our Putāruru Kāhui Ako Team
Our Putāruru Kāhui Ako Team is a passionate and skilled group of educators committed to strengthening learning across our local schools and early learning services.

Led by Tania Morrison, this team works collaboratively to support teacher practice, learner wellbeing, cultural responsiveness, and strong transitions across the education journey — from early childhood through to secondary.

Each Within School Lead and Across School Lead brings their own expertise and energy to the mahi, helping us share great ideas, respond to the needs of our ākonga, and build a connected, future-focused learning community.

Together, we are united by a shared goal: to see every learner in the Putāruru area thrive, succeed, and shine.

What is the Putāruru Kāhui Ako?

The Putāruru Kāhui Ako is a collective of local schools and early learning centres working together to support every learner in our community. Instead of working in isolation, we collaborate — sharing strengths, strategies, and innovations — to raise student achievement and wellbeing across our rohe.

Our Kāhui Ako includes:

Together, we’re creating connected learning pathways for our tamariki, from early learning right through to secondary school and beyond.

What Are We Working On?

Our Kāhui Ako focuses on key areas that make a real difference for learners:

  • Cultural responsiveness, with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and valuing identity, language, and culture
  • Wellbeing and resilience, ensuring ākonga are supported to thrive
  • Shared professional learning for teachers across schools
  • Smooth transitions from ECE to primary, and primary to secondary
  • Lifting achievement, especially in literacy and maths

Why It Matters
By working together as one learning community, we:

  • Ensure students are known, supported, and celebrated at every stage
  • Build strong, connected teaching and leadership across our schools
  • Create a united vision for learning that reflects our shared values

The Putāruru Kāhui Ako is built on kotahitanga – unity. We believe that by working together, we can give every child in our region the best chance to succeed — not just at school, but in life.
