At Putāruru Primary School, we are proud to uphold and celebrate Māori kaupapa as a vital part of our kura culture. Te reo Māori, tikanga, and the principles of Manaakitanga – Kindness, care, hospitality, and showing respect for others, Whanaungatanga – Relationships, connection, and a sense of belonging, Kotahitanga – Unity, togetherness, and collective strength are woven throughout our everyday learning and interactions.
Our kapa haka provides ākonga with the opportunity to express their identity through waiata, haka, and performance. It is a space where tamariki can stand tall, build confidence, and connect deeply with te ao Māori.
We work closely with Raukawa and our wider whānau to ensure that our practices are grounded in authenticity and respect, supporting every child to grow proud in who they are and where they come from.
