At Putāruru Primary School, we know that regular attendance is a key foundation for learning, wellbeing, and belonging. When ākonga are present, they are better able to build relationships, engage in learning, and experience success alongside their peers.
Our Attendance Management Plan (AMP) outlines how we promote, monitor, and support positive attendance across our kura. It reflects our commitment to working in partnership with whānau, taking a proactive and compassionate approach, and removing barriers that may impact a child’s ability to attend school regularly.
This plan aligns with the Ministry of Education’s Stepped Attendance Response (STAR) framework and the legal requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020. Most importantly, it reflects who we are as a school – a community that values manaakitanga, shared responsibility, and the wellbeing of every child.
Attendance is not about punishment; it is about connection, support, and ensuring every ākonga has the best possible opportunity to thrive. We encourage all whānau to read this plan and to work alongside us to support regular, positive attendance for our tamariki.
